A Dreamy Lake Michigan Engagement Session at Silver Lake Sand Dunes

There’s something timeless and romantic about the Lake Michigan shoreline — especially at Silver Lake Sand Dunes. When Rose and Matt reached out to plan their engagement session, they knew exactly where they wanted to go. Silver Lake has been their spot throughout their relationship, making it the perfect location to capture this new chapter in their love story.

As a Michigan engagement photographer serving Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and beyond, I love helping couples choose meaningful locations that reflect their story. And let me tell you — this session at Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Little Sable Point Lighthouse in Mears, Michigan was nothing short of magical.

First, we started in the pedestrian area of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes...

The (smaller) Dunes:

Golden Hour Glow & Tall Grasses

After we wrapped up on the much larger dunes, we headed near the lighthouse where smaller dunes made a great backdrop, since the golden hour light filtered beautifully through the tall beach grass. The sun dipped low, casting a dreamy, warm glow across the sand. With soft breezes, barefoot laughter, and genuine connection between R + M, every moment felt effortlessly romantic.

The golden tones of the dunes paired perfectly with their neutral outfits — a light, earthy color palette that allowed the landscape (and their love) to shine.
